Instrumentation Technician | Dow Corning Corporation | Mount Meigs, AL
Dow Corning is looking to for qualified candidates to fill the role as
Instrumentation Technician at it's Mt. Meigs, AL facility. Dow Corning
Alabama, based in Montgomery, Ala., is one of the largest producers of
silicon metal in the U.S. Formerly known as Simcala, Dow Corning
purchased the plant in 2003. It was renamed in October 2010. The plant
employs approximately 200 people who manufacture high-grade silicon
metal that is used at multiple sites to produce Dow Corning
silicon-based products. Dow Corning Alabama is a wholly owned subsidiary
of Dow Corning.
The Instrumentation Technician will apply the principles of electronics
and electricity to analyze and correct problems.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Be proficient with using a computer and/or hand held equipment for
calibration, installation, loop testing, troubleshooting, replacement
and repair of plant instrumentation.
- Assure completion of proper documentation and ensure documentation is
entered according to operational and maintenance procedures.
- Adhere to OSHA regulations and Dow Corning policies.
- Exhibit proper use and maintenance of test equipment.
- Attend all safety meetings and adhere to all safety standards and good
housekeeping practices.
- Comply with all applicable Federal, State, and Corporate
environmental, safety and health regulations.
- Must be dedicated to continuously improve Dow Corning performance in
terms of safety, productivity, cost, quality, and customer satisfaction
by taking initiative, identifying improvement opportunities, exhibiting
a sense of urgency, setting high personal performance standards, and
demonstrating flexibility.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Must have good electromechanical and troubleshooting aptitude.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of, and experience using, computer, hand held Hart
communicator, hand and power tools.
- Must be able to climb stairs and catwalks, to work in awkward
positions, work in inclement weather, and to lift moderately heavy
objects.
Education & Experience:
- Journeyperson or equivalent status as an Instrumentation Technician.
- Must have 3 - 5 years experience in process instrument control systems.
- Must have 3 - 5 years experienceworking in a chemical or similar
industrial manufacturing plant environment.
Additional Information:
This position requires working in an intense heat environment and
working around three electrical arc furnaces. Please view the Dow
