Starting Salary: $5,549/monthly. Salary will increase to $6,121/month upon successful completion of 6 months of satisfactory service. UCSC strives to embrace diversity in all its forms; it strives to be an inclusive community that fosters an open, enlightened & productive environment.Under the supervision of the Cogen/Fire/Security/Electrical Sr. Superintendent, and as directed by the high voltage Assistant Engineer, construct, maintain, repair, and/or replace equipment and systems associated with high voltage electrical utility distribution systems on campus.Qualifications include:Specialized training in voltages over 600 volts AC, including valid certification for medium voltage maintenance and repairs, or ability to obtain AVO or similar certifications recommended or required for high voltage electrical workers.Journey level experience in the electrical trade.Knowledge of electrical theory, AC and DC, OHM's law, series and parallel circuits, inductance, capacitance, magnetism, power factor, transformers, relays, generators, and other related electrical devices.Knowledge of uniform State and Federal Electrical Codes, OSHA Safety Regulations, Title 8, NFPA 70B & E, NETA, NESC and any other related high voltage safety regulations and standards.Knowledge of medium and/or high voltage electrical distribution systems sufficient for performing necessary tests and making repairs to assure reliability and safety associated with utility type operations.Position is open until filled; Initial Review Date: 04-29-2009APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO USE THE UCSC ON-LINE PROCESS View full job description and access on-line application: https://jobs.ucsc.edu/applicants/Central?quickFind=63940To ensure review of application materials by the hiring unit they must be submitted electronically via the Staff Employment Opportunities web site (http://jobs.ucsc.edu ) on or before the initial review date.
